The Ravenvennen Trail is run in the Ravenvennen nature reserve north of Venlo, between Lomm and Velden. This Limburgs Landschap area consists of fens, heath and woodland on the old Meuse terraces, giving a surface that alternates between sandy tracks, forest floor and narrow stretches along the water. Runners choose between 8 and 15 kilometres, with a morning start that largely avoids the heat of the day. It is a compact trail without frills: two distances, one start time and a course that lets the character of the area speak for itself.
