The Paintfactory Beachrun opens the Loopcriterium van de Kust, a summer series of ten beach races in ten Belgian seaside towns. In Zeebrugge the course combines beach, sea dyke and harbour views: you run partly on paved ground, partly on loose sand and partly on the firm strip by the waterline, each section imposing its own rhythm. Runners choose between 4 and 8 kilometres, both open from the age of twelve. For young participants there is an experience run with obstacles on the beach. Taking part supports the West Flanders medical helicopter service, which depends on donations to keep operating.
