The Oliebollenloop run by AV Weert is a street race on New Year's Eve, starting and finishing on the Altweerterkapelstraat with a course through the bungalow park. It is a fast loop: the course records are sharp, which makes the event attractive to anyone wanting to close the year with a good time. Adults have 5 and 10 kilometres on the programme; the 5 kilometres consists of one small and two large laps. Before that the youngsters take their turn, with 1 kilometre for the youngest entrants and a 3-kilometre race for the older age groups. The athletics track on the Parklaan serves as the base, and afterwards participants get the Dutch doughnuts the race is named after.
