The Baloise Namur Marathon takes place in and around Namur, where the Sambre flows into the Meuse. The programme has four parts: the marathon, the half marathon, a 10 kilometres raising money for childhood cancer research, and a kids' run. The two long distances are point-to-point races starting upstream — the marathon at Wépion, the half marathon at Profondeville — and work their way along the banks of the Meuse towards the city. The finish and race centre are at Namur Expo, which is also where numbers are collected. The marathon and half marathon are officially measured. All distances are run on the same day, early in the running season.
