The Grand Trail de Namur finishes on the esplanade of the Namur citadel, but not every distance starts there. The 10, the 22.5 and the 30 kilometres begin at the citadel itself; the 44.1 kilometres starts in Andenne and the 62.5 in Huy, both upstream along the Meuse. Those two are therefore point-to-point races running towards the city. The climbing rises from 360 metres on the shortest to 1413 on the longest — the Meuse banks around Namur are steeper than the river suggests. The races are run in semi-autonomy, with refreshment along the way and rules on kit and safety.
