Munnikenslagloop is a true village classic in Rouveen. The race began in 1983 and has grown into a fixed summer evening organised by Loopgroep AG '85, combining youth events, a 5 km and a 10 km in one compact programme. The 41st edition is scheduled for Wednesday 17 June 2026, with the race base at SC Rouveen on Korte Kerkweg. Its strength lies in the mix of practical organisation and a clear racing tradition. Younger participants get short distances from 200 metres, after which attention turns to the 5 km and 10 km for runners who want to perform in the village setting. The battle for the Keuperen Spike van Rouvene and the focus on course records add extra edge without taking away the accessible feel. It is the kind of event where history, local spectators and serious running legs meet naturally.
