Montagne du Jambon

About the race

The Montagne du Jambon is a mountain running race at Membre-sur-Semois, and unlike almost any other race you do not choose your distance here: your age category assigns it. U18 runs 4 kilometres with 335 metres of climbing, U20 and M50-plus 8 kilometres with 650, and seniors together with M35-49 the 12 kilometres with 965 metres. All categories start together at half past two. That last figure is the heart of the event: over eighty metres of climbing per kilometre is extreme by Belgian standards, and the course over marked paths and forest tracks above the Semois is closer to climbing than to running.
