The Mirarun is the race of Rotary Waasmunster-Durmeland in Hamme, with start and finish on the Meulenbroekstraat. There are two distances: the 10 kilometres sets off at two o'clock, the 5 kilometres a quarter of an hour later. The course lies in the Scheldt valley, near the Mira bridge that gave the event its name. The proceeds go entirely to local social projects, which explains the setup: no large prize money, but a low threshold. Anyone registering before mid-August gets their first name printed on the race number, and the first two hundred and fifty entrants receive a t-shirt.
