The Mercy Ships Obstacle Run is held at Outdoor Valley in Bergschenhoek, over 6 kilometres with 34 obstacles or 9 kilometres with 55. Obstacles on land, through water and through mud are part of the deal, along with a number you need each other to get past. You can take part alone or as a team, from the age of twelve, with twelve-year-olds accompanied by an adult. Starts go in waves: every quarter of an hour a group of ninety participants first does the warm-up together. The entry fee is only part of taking part — each participant is also asked to bring in a sponsor sum of at least five hundred euros, destined for the medical work of Mercy Ships in Africa.
