The Marathon de l'Ourthe is not a loop but a descent of the valley: every distance finishes in Hamoir, but each starts at a different point upstream. The marathon begins at the Angleur railway station, the half marathon in Esneux, the 10 kilometres on the quay at Comblain-au-Pont and the 6 kilometres at a campsite just outside Hamoir. You are therefore taken to your start first and then run back to the village, largely along the Ravel path beside the Ourthe. That makes the course flat and continuous, with the river almost constantly alongside. There is also a children's race, which stays in Hamoir itself.
