The Loopfestijn of Dalfsen has been organised for more than thirty years by IJsclub Stokvisdennen and was once known simply as the Dalfsen half marathon. Start and finish are on the Kerkplein in the middle of the village, from where the routes take in both the historic centre and the countryside of the Vechtdal. There is a choice of 2.5 kilometres, 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and the half marathon, alongside children's races and a separate team run for companies. Every year a local charity is attached to the event. Because the programme builds from a short children's distance up to the half marathon, recreational runners, youngsters and fast runners all line up on the same day, which makes the festival more of a village day than a race alone.
