Les Crêtes La Hulpoises is one of the fixtures on the Belgian running calendar, set in La Hulpe with the Sonian Forest as its backdrop. The name refers to the ridges the course plays with: the long Crêtes packs around four hundred metres of climbing into 18 kilometres across eight ascents, while the Petites Crêtes covers 10 kilometres with five climbs and two hundred metres of elevation. What sets it apart is that the route runs largely on unpaved paths through private estates opened specially for the occasion, among them the Solvay and Nysdam domains. The start and finish are on the Rue Eugène Castaigne, by the small park behind the École des Colibris. D-Foulées organises the event and also puts on a Mini Crêtes for children.
