La Transforestiere

About the race

La Transforestière is a team orienteering raid through the forests of the Belgian Ardennes, organised by ASUB Orientation. Participants spend two days in semi-autonomy with map and compass, searching for control points. They only learn where exactly the start is a week in advance, and the location of the bivouac stays a surprise until the end of the first stage. There are six courses, from an easy route for families and beginners to two demanding ones for experienced orienteers, each split into a Saturday and a Sunday stage. Walkers go in groups of two to five without timing, while runners are timed. Saturday night is spent camping together, which makes the weekend as much an outing as a competition.
