The Ladiesrun opens the Kustmarathon weekend on the Friday evening: at twenty to six the 5 and the 10 kilometres set off together from the Langstraat in Zoutelande. The course largely follows that of the marathon itself, so you get beach, dunes and asphalt path in one lap — and the wind that comes with them. The race is set up by and for women and keeps the tone accordingly: some run it on pace, others as a first step towards a longer distance. Timing closes at quarter to eight, which leaves ample room to walk where it gets hard.
