This is the Trailrun of the Kustmarathon weekend in Zeeland: one of nine races spread across that weekend, alongside the Kustmarathon itself, a Beach Challenge, a Canitrail and a walking marathon among others. The trail goes on Friday evening from the Langstraat in Zoutelande, over sixteen kilometres of unpaved ground: loose sand, muddy pools, elevation in the dunes and many tight bends. That makes it more technical and slower than the distance suggests — sixteen kilometres of dune sand does not run like sixteen kilometres of road. The organisers aim it at trained runners.
