Koningsloop Wijhe

About the race

The Koningsloop Wijhe is a village race organised by Verenigd Comité Wijhe, starting and finishing in the middle of the Langstraat on the Friday evening in the run-up to King's Day. The evening opens with a warm-up and the children's races: 600 metres up to and including age six, 1200 metres for seven to nine and 1800 metres for ten to twelve, all three through the centre. The 5 and 10 kilometres then set off together, each a single loop through the countryside around Wijhe and precisely measured. Companies run the 5 kilometres as a team, with the three fastest times counting. Music, a commentator and spectators along the route are part of the deal, and afterwards the fastest man and woman from Wijhe are crowned King and Queen.
