The IRONMAN 70.3 of Knokke-Heist is the only IRONMAN race in Belgium and largely takes place across the border. The swim covers 1.9 kilometres in the Damse Vaart at Dutch Sluis, after which the 90 kilometre bike course leads back from Sluis through the polders to the De Taeye stadium in Heist. From there the closing 21.1 kilometres runs out to the Zeedijk, finishing on the Evenementenstrand. Both the bike and the run are flat, which makes the race suitable for a first half distance as well as for anyone chasing a sharp time. The weekend is shared with the shorter 5150 over the olympic distance.
