The Halve Marathon van Nieuwleusen is organised by the local running group, with a restaurant on the Burgemeester Backxlaan as the start and finish. The half marathon runs a single paved loop from the village towards the Staphorst state forest and back; outside the start and finish area the course is not fully closed to traffic. Alongside it are the 4 Miles and a 1-kilometre youth race. Notably, both the 4 Miles and the kilometre are also offered as frame running, so that runners using a frame take on the same routes. A classic half marathon and an explicitly accessible programme thus sit side by side.
