The Halve Marathon van Nijlen falls on the first Sunday of June every year and is organised by the Nijlense Atletiekvrienden together with AV Lyra-Lierse. All races start on the Guido Gezellestraat and finish on the Bevelsesteenweg, on flat local laps of roughly 5 kilometres: the 5 km runs one lap, the 10 km two and the half marathon four. Bicycles are not allowed on the course and there is a water point every 2.5 kilometres. The afternoon opens with children's races over 200, 400 and 800 metres, in separate series for boys and girls, with a medal and a t-shirt for every participant. Changing rooms, showers and the race office are at the sports hall.
