Halve Marathon Nijlen is a regular road race organised by the Nijlense Atletiekvrienden in cooperation with AV Lyra-Lierse, with 5 km, 10 km and half marathon distances on flat local laps. All main distances start on Guido Gezellestraat and finish on Bevelsesteenweg; the 5 km is one lap, the 10 km two laps and the half marathon four laps of roughly 5 km. That structure makes the course clear, fast and easy to pace. Children's races, aid every 2.5 km and facilities at the sports hall give the event a distinctly local character as well. It is a no-nonsense race for runners chasing a fast time, yet accessible enough for joggers from the area.
