The Firerun of Deinze is an evening race by the Deinze fire brigade's association, starting at the KMSK Deinze car park and finishing at the fire station. There are two distances, 5 and 10 kilometres. The course takes in a lot of the town in a short span: first the AC Deinze athletics track, then the wooded paths of the Brielmeersen, past the marina and the town hall and through the Kaandelpark. Because the race is run in the dark, a headlamp is compulsory — not a recommendation but a condition of starting. Along the way and at the finish the organisers work with fire, music and light effects, fitting for the brigade behind the event. Changing rooms and toilets are available at the station.
