About the race

The Bossen van Vlaanderen Trail sets off from Sportpark Aalter and heads into the woods around the municipality over four distances: 10, 21, 30 and 50 kilometres. The fifty is the ultra option, the shorter routes are meant as an accessible introduction to forest trail running. What sets it apart are the crossings: parts of the course run over private land that is only open on race day, so the full route is released just before the event. That makes the trail more of a voyage of discovery than a familiar loop. Conservation plays an explicit part, and the organisers are open about the arrangements made with the landowners. Marathon and More Belgium runs the event.
