The Kattevennen Easter Trail & Walk takes place in the Kattevennen nature reserve, in the middle of the Hoge Kempen National Park near Genk. The day falls into two halves: the walkers head out into the countryside in the morning, passing the Papendaal ponds at Zutendaal along the way, and the afternoon belongs to the trail runners. There are five distances — 5, 9, 14, 20 and 27 kilometres — starting in reverse order, with the longest first. Every finisher receives a medal. Dogs are welcome on a lead provided they start at the back; water bowls wait for them at the aid stations.
