Drenthe Loopfestijn

About the race

The Drenthe Loopfestijn is a broad road running event in Klazienaveen, with De Witte Olifant and the town centre as the recognizable hub for start and finish. The 41st edition combines youth races with the classic distances of 4 miles, 10 kilometres, half marathon and marathon, giving both local runners and marathon specialists a suitable race. The marathon follows one large loop through Klazienaveen and the Drenthe surroundings towards places including Bargerveen and Weiteveen; the half marathon, 10 kilometres and 4 miles each have their own routes, starting on Van Echtenkanaal Noordzijde and finishing on Langestraat or near De Witte Olifant. The organization uses MYLAPS BibTag timing and aid stations on the longer distances. That gives the event a solid race character, while the youth races and village atmosphere keep the Loopfestijn clearly rooted in Klazienaveen.
