De Lus van Akkrum is a Frisian village classic that brings running and walking together around Akkrum. The long Lus over 12 km is the race distance for runners, while the short 7 km Lus is not a competitive run but may also be run; walkers can join both distances. Start and organisation are centred around the Utingeradeelhal on Spikerboor, with Feansterdyk as the start area near the sports hall. Along the way, the waterside and the Sylroede ferry crossing are as much part of the experience as chip timing, drink stations and traffic marshals. That makes De Lus van Akkrum feel both friendly and well organised: a local evening event for fast 12-kilometre runners, young participants, walkers and people who mainly come for the atmosphere.
