De FERREmen Dottertrail is a trail race by Atletiek Land van Aalst in the Den Dotter nature area, between Haaltert, Kerksken, Heldergem and Aaigem. The first edition is held in memory of Ferre and links sport with good causes, supporting UZ Gent, De Krekel primary school and the local Natuurpunt branch, among others. Runners can choose 7, 15, 22 or 32 km; the 7 and 15 km distances are also available as walks. The course follows field and nature paths through rolling terrain that can be muddy in wet weather, but according to the organization remains largely runnable. Start and finish are at De Krekel primary school in Haaltert, where the trail combines a warm benefit atmosphere with a real sporting challenge.
