De 5 van Enkhuizen was announced as a new running event in the centre of Enkhuizen, tied to the cycling race taking place there the same day. The programme consisted of youth races over 600 and 1250 metres and a 5 kilometres for seniors and masters, on a fully closed city-centre course. It never got that far: the permit was refused because the centre was needed shortly afterwards for the build-up of another event. The organisers had already moved the day from King's Day to the Sunday before as a precaution, which did not help. Hundreds of entries had been taken for the run by then.
