The City Trail Middelburg is an evening run of around nine kilometres straight through the capital of Zeeland. The start, the finish and the party afterwards are all on the grounds of Nehalennia Kruisweg. Runners set off at 19.00 and walkers five minutes later; no times are recorded, so participants can decide on the start line whether they run or walk. The course is only revealed on the day itself, because the organisers deliberately keep the element of surprise high and look for places you would not normally cross. The event field opens at 16.15 and the evening runs on until eleven. The race is run by volunteers and the proceeds go to charity.
