Canicross Mazenzele is run in the Kravaalsbos near Opwijk and is the successor to Canicross Meldert: the same woods, but a new start location. The event also reaches beyond running with a dog — there is bikejöring and dogscooter as well, where your dog pulls you along on a bike or a scooter. There is no shared gun: from half past nine the heats set off continuously, by discipline and distance, with the dogscooters going first. That is also the only workable arrangement with dogs on the line. The forest brings changing surfaces and twisting paths, which asks something different from a flat road run with a dog.
