Brussels Ekiden

About the race

Brussels Ekiden is a marathon you run with six people, in and around the King Baudouin Stadium. The Japanese ekiden formula divides the 42.195 kilometres unevenly: the first, third and fifth runner each cover five kilometres, the second and fourth ten, and the last runner the remaining 7.195. That lets a team put its strongest runners on the long legs deliberately. With around nine hundred teams on the start line, the changeover zone inside the stadium is an event in itself. Watch the entry: it is online only and closes well before race day — you cannot sign up at the stadium.
