The Bevrijdingsloop Kampen is the largest schoolchildren's race in Overijssel and is held on the athletics track on the Hilbert van Dijkstraat, at Sportpark Hagenbroek. The youngest children run 500 metres, pupils from seven to twelve and their teachers 900. The evening ends with the Kamper Mijl over 1609 metres, open to all ages, and a school relay of five times 200 metres in which classes take each other on. The race commemorates the liberation of Kampen in 1945 and is organised by AV Isala '96 together with the Kamper Oranje Vereniging. This is not a road race for adults, then, but a school evening on the track.
