The Bemels Beste Boeren Bergloop is an unpaved race through the Limburg hill country around Bemelen, starting on the Bemelerweg. Two distances are on offer: 7.5 kilometres, on which the climbing stays modest, and 15 kilometres, which includes a number of solid ascents. The name is meant literally: the course runs across farmland and even passes straight through a cow shed along the way, which has earned the race a reputation reaching well beyond the region. The 15 kilometres sets off half an hour before the short distance. Changing facilities, showers, parking and a first aid post are available at the start. Interest runs high: entries tend to fill up well before race day.
