The Amsterdam Marathon starts and finishes in the Olympic Stadium, which makes the closing lap on the cinder track the most recognisable moment of the day. The course is flat and fast, running along the Amstel and through Amsterdam-Zuid and the Vondelpark. Besides the marathon there is a half marathon and a 7.5 kilometre race that sets off on the Saturday from the Stadionweg and likewise finishes inside the stadium. For children and beginners there is a series of shorter runs. The event is organised by Le Champion.
