The Amerongse Berg Trail sets off at Boshotel Overberg on the Dwarsweg and climbs onto the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. There are three distances: 12 kilometres with 150 metres of climbing, 17 with 215 and 21 with 275. The course alternates forest, single tracks and heath, passing the Eenzame Eik and the Egelmeer along the way, two landmarks the routes share. The climbing comes from the ice-pushed ridge and sits in short slopes rather than one long ascent. The trail is run several times a year from the same start, so the course shows a different face in each season. Trail Events keeps the set-up plain, with the terrain as the main thing.
