The Almere Weerwater Run is the major running event around the Weerwater, with start and finish on the Esplanade in Almere Stad. Many runners still know the race by its former name, Almere City Run; the current edition is held as the Skechers Almere Weerwater Run. On Sunday 14 June 2026 the programme opens with the 15 km at 08:30, followed by the Kids Run 1 km, the 10 km and the 5 km Rondje Weerwater. The routes follow the water and the green areas around the city, with the 15 km taking the widest loop. The event is fully serviced with timing and a medal, and again connects the race day to KWF Dutch Cancer Society. The distances are approximate according to the organiser and are not officially measured by the Dutch Athletics Federation.
