About the race

The 6 uur van Aalter is a timed race at Sportpark Aalter: not covering a set distance but gathering as many metres as possible in six hours, solo or as a relay team. The lap is traffic-free and measures 1414 metres, running straight through the sports hall on the way — there the crowd stands close to the track and it is a good deal louder than outside. The field is held to one hundred and fifty, solo runners and teams together. The aid table is correspondingly generous: water, isotonic drink, electrolytes, cola, bananas, sweets, salty snacks, nuts, crisps and gingerbread, with a recovery drink afterwards. Pacing yourself and keeping eating is the whole task here.
