The Wij(k)loop Batjesloop is the running event of the Batjes, the three-day village festival of Zedelgem in August. Adults run 5 or 10 kilometres, starting in the early afternoon; alongside them are children's races divided by age category. The race is part of the wij(k)lopen, a recreational running circuit of the municipality of Zedelgem for children, youth and adults in which no final standings are deliberately kept. That defines the character: taking part counts for more here than performing. Batjes Zedelgem vzw handles the organisation, which anchors the race firmly in the village's wider programme of festivities.
