The Vloethemveld Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra in the Vloethemveld nature reserve near Zedelgem, starting and finishing at the camp house on the Vloethemveld. The format is the classic backyard one: every hour all participants set off again on the same 6.7-kilometre loop, and anyone failing to complete it within that hour drops out. There is no fixed finishing distance; the race continues until one participant remains, which means it can run for days. The loop itself is flat and follows walking and cycling paths almost entirely, of which only two hundred and fifty metres are paved. The field is capped at a hundred runners and the race counts as a silver ticket event within the international backyard circuit.
