The Veldwijkloop of AV Athlos is run across the Veldwijk estate in Ermelo, starting at the Ten Duijn sports centre. The race is set up for clients and staff of GGZ Centraal as well as runners from the area, and that sets the tone: it is a recreational evening, not a performance race. Everything revolves around a single lap of about 2.5 kilometres, which you cover once, twice or four times — 2.5, 5 or 10 kilometres. There are age limits: one or two laps from twelve, four laps from fourteen. Children under twelve run the kidsrun over that same lap, and anyone who would rather walk does exactly one. Everyone sets off together at seven.
