The Ultra Viking is the longest distance Strong Viking offers: sixty kilometres with over a hundred and thirty-five obstacles, run in laps through the Spaarnwoude recreation area. Ten hours are on the clock, and every further lap carries its own cut-off — miss one and you are out. That is no formality: about two thirds of starters reach the finish within the limit. The obstacles lean heavily on water, including a drop of fourteen metres. At every obstacle you may walk by without attempting it, so how far you push is up to you, but the medal goes only to those covering the full distance in time.
