The Triathlon Wijchen takes place in Wijchen and neighbouring Niftrik, with a water start, a traffic-free bike course along the N845 and a run course through Niftrik. There are two distances: an eighth triathlon over 500 metres of swimming, 20 kilometres of cycling and 5 kilometres of running, and a quarter triathlon over 1000 metres, 40 and 10 kilometres. The quarter can also be done as a relay by a duo or trio, allowing a parent and a child of twelve or older to form a team. The race is organised by the athletics club AVW Wijchen and runs entirely on volunteers, which gives the whole thing a distinct club feel.
