The Talsperrenlauf runs around the Weser reservoir near Eupen, over a single distance of 14.9 kilometres. What sets the race apart is the way it starts: there is no mass start, but every runner sets off separately, ten seconds apart. In effect everyone runs a time trial. The course alternates forest and road and passes the dam wall itself. Start, registration and finish are at the reservoir car park. The race has existed since 1976 and counts towards the running circuit of the Aachen region, which brings German as well as Belgian entrants to the line.
