The Stratenloop van Genderen is the evening race of the village summer festival, organised by the Altena Road Runners together with the Oranjevereniging Juliana. All the starts are on the corner of the Van der Beekstraat and the Akkerstraat, where the festival marquee stands and participants can collect their race numbers from six o'clock. The programme begins with the youngsters, in four age groups over distances from half a kilometre to two kilometres, after which the competitive adult race sets off at a quarter to eight over 5 English miles, a little over eight kilometres. Because the race falls in the middle of the festival programme, the crowd simply stays on afterwards and the evening flows into the village festivities.
