About the race

RupelRun is an accessible running and walking event at Sint-Bernardus Abbey in Hemiksem. On Sunday 14 June 2026, participants start and finish on the grass area in front of the abbey, in the heart of the Rupel region. Runners can choose 5, 10 or 15 km, while walkers can take part over 5 or 10 km. Later in the day there is also a KidsRun, with short distances for preschool and primary-school children. The event is run by volunteers and puts plenty of emphasis on atmosphere: aid stations along the route, a guarded bag drop, children’s entertainment and music around the start and finish area. At the same time, the race remains linked to charitable causes. RupelRun therefore feels less like an anonymous road race and more like a local sports day around the abbey, with space for families, walkers and runners alike.
