The Natuurmarathon Tessenderlo is called Klavertje Vier, the four-leaf clover, and owes the name to its shape: four loops that all set off from Engsbergen and return to it. Each loop visits a different nature reserve in the Merode estate — Averbode, the Rode heide, Gerhagen and Dassenaerde — so you head into new country four times rather than repeating one lap. Eighty percent of the forty-two kilometres is unpaved. At the end of every loop there is a full aid station, at 13, 23, 33 and 42 kilometres. It can be run solo or as a relay of two or four. The event is organised by De Bosvrienden.
