The Natuurloop Beernem sets off from the castle and herb garden of the Bulskampveld provincial estate. There are three distances — 7 kilometres Discovery, 14 kilometres Experience and 23 kilometres Experience+ — running through the woods, hidden paths and open heathland of the estate and its surroundings. The organisers keep more than eighty per cent of the course unpaved and avoid asphalt wherever possible; that is the guiding principle of the whole event. Participants receive a personalised race number and can look up their result immediately after finishing. There is a free supervised bag drop, and the bar's profits go to local social and ecological projects each year.
