The Mierdense Trail runs through the woods between Lage Mierde, Hooge Mierde and Belgian Poppel, and at nearly a hundred percent unpaved it is one of the purest trails of the Brabantse Trailserie. The course consists largely of singletrack — narrow, winding paths where you run in single file — alternating with sandy tracks, technical sections and natural obstacles. There are four distances of 8.5, 12.5, 21 and 26.5 kilometres, with the longest setting off first. The field is capped at a thousand and the starts are split into small groups, precisely because narrow paths do not take crowding. Along the way there is refreshment with water, tea and something to eat.
