The Midzomernacht Halve Marathon sets off at nine in the evening from the Waalkade in Zaltbommel, on the longest day of the year. That late hour is the whole point: you run along the dike to a turnaround beyond Rossum and come back as the light drains away, so the finish falls in twilight rather than darkness. There is one distance, twenty-one kilometres and a hundred metres, to be run individually or as a pair with each taking 10.5 kilometres. A shorter option deliberately does not exist. Afterwards come the prize giving and drinks on the quay.
