The Leopoldsloop, run by jogging club Krekenlopers, takes runners into the creek country around Sint-Laureins, starting at the Godshuis. There are three distances: 5.5 kilometres, 11.5 kilometres and the half marathon. All three first follow the Leopold canal, known locally as the Blinker; at the Moershoofde bridge the shortest distance splits off and returns along the water. The longer distances then pick up an offroad section, and at the second split the half marathon turns into the creek area, past the Vrouwkenshoekkreek, the Boerenkreek and the Mazurekreek among others. Two aid stations wait along the way. The open landscape threaded with waterways gives the race a distinctly regional character.
