The Hollands Duin Trail sets off at Vrijstaat Nederzandt on the Langevelderslag in Noordwijk, a beach pavilion at the foot of the dunes. The routes head into the dune belt over four distances: 6, 10, 21 and 30 kilometres, with 15 to 100 metres of climbing. That climbing does not come from one slope but from dozens of short dune rises one after another, and it is precisely that which makes the dune sand harder than the figures suggest. Trail Events applies a We Only Leave Footprints policy: there are no cups at the aid stations, so your own cup or soft flask is needed.
