Hernense Stratenloop

About the race

The Hernense Stratenloop is a small-scale, recreational road race in and around Hernen, starting and finishing at De Mijlpaal. There are four distances: 600 and 1200 metres for the youth, on laps through the village, and the 5 and 10 kilometres that head out of Hernen into the surrounding countryside. Those routes pass the medieval castle, the rural hamlet of Leur, the corn mill and run through the Hernen woods. There is a water point along the way, and in hot weather the volunteers set up extra sprinklers. The terrace at De Mijlpaal is the focal point afterwards, with prize-givings and spectators along the route. An easy-going Saturday afternoon, with enough variety on the longer distances for anyone after a solid road race.
